Michael Chen is an educator, facilitator and consultant on international higher education, business development, culture and art. Currently wrapping up a visiting professorship at Ghent University, Belgium, where he took a doctorate in Literary Studies, he has served as Executive Director of the Belgian American Chamber of the South. He consults on economic development, intercultural communications as well as art.
Briefly, whilst based out of Shanghai, he visited HK for work frequently and appreciated its unique blend of East and West and its unique position as the financial hub of the Far East.
While working as executive director of the Belgian American Chamber of the South, he got to know his colleagues at HKAA, and through his own heritage as well as their shared goal of promoting international trade and business, he became very interested in the mission and objectives of HKAA. He believes his background in higher education and art would be an asset for HKAA especially when it comes to broadening their network to include higher education institutions and the culture and art sector.
